The Backing Band
Be part of the music behind the music!

Taranaki Singer Songwriters is powered by passionate people who believe in supporting local musicians and bringing our community together.

The Backing Band is our team of volunteers and supporters who help make it all happen. From running events and promoting shows to supporting artists and developing creative projects, there are plenty of ways to get involved and make a difference.

How can you help?

We're looking for people with all kinds of skills, interests and experience!

Help set up and pack down events, move equipment, assist with sound and lighting, and keep things running smoothly.

🎨 Creative Projects
Support songwriting circles, workshops, and other opportunities for local artists to develop their skills.

📣 Marketing & Promotion

Get involved your way

You don't need to be available all the time or have heaps of experience. Whether you can lend a hand at the occasional event, help with a specific project, or become a regular part of the crew, we'd love to hear from you.

We'll help you find a role that suits your interests, skills and availability, and provide support along the way.

Be part of our creative whānau

At the heart of The Backing Band is manaakitanga — looking after one another, showing respect, and creating a welcoming space where everyone can contribute.

It's about working together, learning new skills, sharing ideas and celebrating the music and people that make Taranaki special.

Want to join The Backing Band?

Get in touch and tell us a little about yourself, what you'd enjoy helping with, and how you'd like to be involved.

Together, we can create more opportunities for local musicians and keep Taranaki's songwriting community thriving.
